The Greek trade deficit widened to 31.2 billion euros (41.2 billion U.S. dollars) in the first 11 months last year, up 4.1 billion euros from the same period of 2005, Eurostat said on Friday.

The EU executive's statistics agency, in a report published in Brussels, said Greek exports totaled 15.2 billion euros (20.1 billion dollars) and imports were 46.4 billion euros (61.3 billion dollars) in the 11-month period, raising the trade deficit to 31.2 billion euros (41.2 billion dollars) from 27.1 billion euros (35.8 billion dollars) in 2005.

Greek exports rose 21 percent and imports were up 17 percent in the Jan.-Nov. period.

Eurostat said Germany, Holland and Ireland recorded the biggest trade surplus in the EU 25 member states, while Britain, Spain, France and Greece recorded the largest trade deficits.
