The constituent assembly election will not be possible in mid-June if an interim government is not formed in the coming week, Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) (formerly known as guerrilla) Prachanda said on Saturday.
Stating that the Election Commission of Nepal had labeled the present government a "caretaker government," Prachanda opined that an interim government should be set up in one week.
Prachanda made these remarks while speaking at a function organized in Kathmandu, at which Prachanda conferred the CPN party flag to mountaineer Pemba Dorje Sherpa.
Pemba is to climb the Mt. Chomolungma (Mt. Everest) via the north route from Tibet, China, in this March carrying the flags of eight Nepali political parties.
Prachanda also said the CPN would put forward a proposal for amendment in the interim constitution with a provision allowing the parliament to vote for removal of the King.
"If there is a provision to remove the Prime Minister in the interim legislature, then we will be putting forward a provision to have the king himself removed," He said.
