Chinese police told to practice "frugal working style"
font size

Chinese Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on Friday issued new regulations to force police officers to practice a "frugal working style".

The regulations dictate that senior police officers should not order streets to be cordoned off streets when visiting local branches.

No officers should accept invitations from subordinates to banquets or entertainment venues, nor accept gifts or money that may prevent them from fairly executing the law, the regulations read.

Those who violate the regulations will be criticized or punished, the MPS said.
