Tokyo shares open lower

Tokyo stocks opened lower on Monday as fresh trading incentives was lacking.

In the first 15 minutes of trading, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 8.79 points, or 0.05 percent, to 17,866.86.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange dropped 2.94 points, or 0.17 percent, to 1, 771.59. The Second Section was higher.
