No Malaysian students studying in Indonesia were affected when tornado hit Yogyakarta province in Java island Sunday afternoon, local media reported Monday.

Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia Zainal Abidin Mohamed Zain said none of the 385 Malaysian students studying at Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta was staying in the villages hit by the tornado.

The embassy has contacted the students and found them safe, Zainal told the Malaysian national news agency Bernama Monday.

Zainal also reminded Malaysian students to look after their own safety as the whirlwind might recur.
