German Economic Minister Michael Glos will visit Algeria on Wednesday as part of Germany's efforts to address its energy concerns, local reports said Monday.
The minister, with a 50-member high-ranking business delegation, will meet with Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, Prime Minister Abdelaziz Belkhadem during the two-day visit, said German news agency DPA.
He is also slated to attend a German-Algerian economic forum, said the report.
German utility giant Eon has recently signed a declaration of intent with Algerian state energy company Sonatrach on a long-term provision of liquid natural gas (LNG).
Germany has been seeking to diversify its energy sources in a bid to reduce its heavy reliance on Russia.
Algeria, a major energy supplier to Europe, is the world's 11th largest oil producer and fourth largest natural gas producer.
