Polish industrial production up in January

Polish industrial production rose by 15.6 percent year-on-year in January 2007 after a 5.9 percent year-on-year rise in December, and went up by 0.4 percent from the previous month, the Polish Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported on Monday.

Market expected industrial production in January 2007 to rise 11.9 percent year-on-year and to fall by 3.7 percent month-on- month.

Polish industrial production prices in January 2007 rose by 2.9 percent year-on-year after a 2.6 percent year-on-year growth in December. Compared to previous month, they rose by 0.5 percent.

Economists surveyed by the Polish news agency PAP in February predicted that producers would raise prices by 2.8 percent year-on- year in January and by 0.1 percent month-on-month.
