Sri Lankan Air Force raids rebel targets
font size

Sri Lanka's Air Force conducted air strikes on two identified Tamil Tiger targets in the north Tuesday morning, said the military.

Officials from the Media Center for National Security said the Air Force raided the two LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam) targets in the northern Vavuniya district around 7:30 a.m. (0200 GMT).

In one place, grouping and training of terrorists had been observed and in the other, mortars had been deployed, officials said.

More than 3,900 people have been killed in Sri Lanka's escalating violence between government troops and the LTTE since December 2005.
