Chinese prosecutors will focus on investigating cases which people care about deeply so as to maintain social stability in 2007, according to the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP).
In-depth investigation will be carried out for cases that impair people's interests, or cases that occasioned considerable complaints from ordinary people, the SPP sources said.
Chinese prosecutors will crackdown on criminal cases that endanger social security and lower people's sense of security, including the crimes committed by underworld gangs and crimes of severe violence, SPP sources said here recently.
Prosecutors will also probe into cases which involve civil servants who abuse their power, especially cases involving commercial bribery and crimes in relation to production accidents, SPP sources said.
Chinese prosecutors probed 9,582 commercial bribery cases involving public servants in 2006. As much as 1.5 billion yuan (192 million U.S. dollars) were involved in these cases, the SPP said.
