129 illegal laborers detained in Macao in January

The Macao police nabbed 129 illegal laborers in January, according to official statistics issued on Friday.

The figures from the Public Security Police showed that the police conducted 82 swoops on 93 sites in the month and 32 cases have been transferred to the Prosecution.

The employment of illegal workers is a crime that incurs hefty fines and imprisonment in case of repeat offenders. Illegally employed workers are customarily ordered to leave Macao.
