World Bank (WB) approved a 60 million U.S. dollars grant for Nepal's education and research, local newspaper The Kathmandu Post reported on Saturday.
A press release issued by WB office in Kathmandu on Friday said WB's board meeting approved the grant on Thursday in Washington DC, USA.
This grant is designed to enhance quality and relevance of higher education and research as the Second Higher Education Project.
The project is expected to improve financial sustainability of constituent campuses and help augment infrastructure of community campuses. Through financial assistance and enhanced capacity of higher secondary schools, it will also help improve access for academically qualified under-privileged students, especially girls and those from lower caste and educationally disadvantaged indigenous communities.
The grant is from the International Development Association, the World Bank's concessionary lending arm.
