Peru's Interior Minister Pilar Mazzetti has resigned after lawmakers accused her ministry of overpaying for 469 police patrol cars.
President Alan Garcia has accepted Mazzetti's resignation, which she delivered late Friday, Premier Jorge del Castillo told a local radio station on Saturday.
Lawmakers from the opposition and Garcia's center-left Aprista party have accused the Interior Ministry of failing to obtain a discount for the fleet of 469 patrol cars for the national police force.
