New York police develop sketch of Chinese New Year stabbing suspect
font size

New York police have developed a sketch of one suspect in the fatal stabbing of a Chinese citizen in Queens Borough last weekend, local media reported on Saturday.

Zhang Hongqi was attacked and fatally stabbed by three men in Flushing early Sunday morning. Authorities say the attackers took his cell phone and stabbed him multiple times.

The 41-year-old worked for an upper East Side restaurant. He left behind a wife and a teenage daughter in China.

The Chinese Consulate General in New York was deeply concerned about the street attack and has urged police to find the suspects soon and bring those responsible to justice.

The U.S. embassy in Beijing has contacted Zhang's wife and agreed to interview her next Monday to decide whether to approve a visa for her.
