Bomb attacks in Baghdad kill three people
font size

A roadside bomb explosion and a mortar attack on Monday killed three people and wounding three others, including policemen, an Interior Ministry source said.

"A roadside bomb detonated near a passing police patrol in the Rustamiyah area in southern Baghdad in the morning, damaging a police vehicle and killing two policemen, wounding another aboard, " the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

In a separate incident, a mortar round landed on a commercial area in the Nidhal Street in central Baghdad, killing one civilian and wounding two others, along with damaging several nearby shops and civilian cars, the source said.

The attacks came a day after a series of bomb attacks, including a suicide one rocked Baghdad despite a major offensive launched by the U.S. and Iraqi forces in the capital aimed at curbing sectarian violence which threatens the country to plunge into a civil war.
