font size

Macao's newly-appointed Secretary for Transport and Public Works Lau Si Io swore the oath in Macao on Thursday at the Government Headquarters.

Edmund Ho Hau Wah, chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region, observed Lau's oath-taking ceremony.

Some 100 local and the central government officials, legislators and celebrities attended the ceremony.

Lau, former president of the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, told media at the conclusion of the ceremony that he is to fulfill the duty with "fair, practical and far-sight attitude."

He expressed the gratitude to the central and local governments for their trust and vowed to adjust the policies in the sector of transport.

Ao Man Long, former Secretary for Transport and Public Works, has been in custody for allegedly being involved in a corruption case since December.
