4 militants killed in E. Afghanistan

Four Taliban militants were killed and four others sustained injuries as they exchanged fire with Afghan troops in the eastern Nangarhar province, police said Sunday.

The incident took place Saturday in Narai area when militants opened fire on an Afghan military convoy. The troops returned fire as a result four rebels were killed and four others were wounded, police spokesman in Nangarhar province Abdul Ghafoor told Xinhua.

There were no casualties of government troops, he added.

Over 400 people mostly militants, according to officials, have been killed in Taliban related violence so far this year in Afghanistan.
