Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Sunday asked the Indian government to share with Pakistan the investigation into the trans-border train bombing attack which killed over 60 people, mostly Pakistanis.
The Samjhota Express, which runs between the Pakistani city of Lahore and the Indian town of attari, was targeted on Indian territory on Feb. 18.
"I would appeal to the Government of India to apprise Pakistan of the results of the investigation into this tragic incident," Aziz said at a function to distribute compensation cheques among the heirs of the deceased of Samjhota Express.
Earlier, India had rejected a Pakistani proposal to hold joint investigation into the blasts but said that details of the investigations will be shared with Islamabad.
Aziz said immediate and stern action should be initiated against those responsible for this incident and as the investigation into the incident progresses, Pakistan should be informed.
He said that "when the Indian government completed the inquiry, we would apprise of the heirs of the facts of the matter".
The prime minister said that Pakistan has asked the Indian government to improve the security measures for this train in the Indian territory as this incident was a security lapse.
Anti-terror officials of the two countries are scheduled to hold two days talks in Islamabad from March 6 and local analysts believed that India might share details about the blasts in the talks.
