The Chinese government has ordered central departments and local governments to conduct a purge of outdated, contradictory and irrelevant regulations.
The General Office of the State Council has ordered that a statute that has been superceded by more recent rules should be scrapped and its abolition publicized.
Others that have expired or have been irrelevant should be declared invalid, and those that conflict with existing laws or rules should be corrected.
The instruction demands unity of laws and administrative efficiency.
The purge is scheduled to be completed by the end of October.
