Mauritanian presidential election begins

The first presidential elections of Mauritania since the 2005 military coup unveiled its voting process on Sunday in the northwestern African country.

Polling stations in the capital of Nouakchott opened to voters at 7 a.m. local time (0700 GMT) and is expected to close at 7 p.m. (1900 GMT).
