The South Korean Red Cross said Thursday that South Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) agreed to resume reunions of families of the two sides.
The reunion, which will be the 15th of its kind since 2000, is set to be held during May 9-14 at DPRK's Mount Geumgang resort, said a news release of the Red Cross.
The two sides confirmed the date and other details about the reunions over the telephone and through liaison officials in the truce village of Panmunjom, it said.
The Red Cross officials of the two sides will exchange details on the whereabouts of families separated by the border in early April, and will reveal the final list of participants on April 27, it said.
Two hundred families, one hundred each from South Korea and DPRK, will participate in the reunion, it said.
In July last year, South Korea decided to halt economic aids to DPRK as DPRK conducted missile tests despite South Korea's strong protest. The reunions of separated families in South Korea and DPRK has been suspended since then as DPRK's Red Cross announced suspension of the reunions.
