China ranks world first in machine tool consumption

China's consumption and imports of machine tools and imports have been the largest in the world for the last five years. The information came from Wang Liming, the Vice Director General of the China Machine Tool and Tool Builders' Association (CMTBA) on March 21.

Wang Liming said that in 2006, sales of machine tools hit US$3.11 billion on the Chinese mainland market, the value of machine tool imports hit US$7.24 billion, up 11.55 percent than 2005; the value of machine tool exports hit US$1.19 billion, up 44.56 percent from 2005.

The 10th China International Machine Tool Show (CIMT 2007) will be held from April 9 to 15 at China International Exhibition Center, Beijing.
