The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on March 21 that Intel, the largest computer chip manufacturer in the world, will announced plans to establish a factory in Dalian, China. It is expected to invest US$2.5 billion in the project.
According to the insider quoted in the report, Intel has already decided to hold a press conference in Beijing on March 26, when CEO Paul Otellini will announce the decision.
A previous report claims that the Chinese government has already authorized the project. However, Intel has refused to confirm this, saying only that it is interested in increasing investment in China.
WSJ said that many foreign electronic companies, including Intel, hope to invest and establish factories in China. This will help perfect the industry chain, allowing their products to go more directly to users. China's market is large, and demand for electrical products such as computers is expanding.
