SCO secretary-general highlights China's role in SCO

" China is playing a very active and constructive role, not only in internal construction and organization, but contributed significantly in political fields," Bolat Nurgaliyev, the secretary-general of the Shanghai Cooperation (SCO) spoke highly of China¡¯s role as he answered the questions from netizens on Friday.

"China suggested to make some cooperative agreements within the SCO framework and provided every support to that end. It also helped other SCO members to formulate plans of major activities of the organization. Besides, it must be pointed out that SCO is the only international organization headquartered in Beijing," Nurgaliyev added.

"The fact alone showed China's close attention to SCO affairs. As SCO's influence expands, Beijing as seat of an international organization can also benefit by obtaining a higher position among world cities," Nurgaliyev said.

Bolat Nurgaliyev paid a visit to the People's Daily Online Friday afternoon. He talked to netizens under the theme of "SCO and peace, development of today's world" on the Strong China Forum, a feature of People's Daily Online.
