Benin's constitutional court has decided to postpone Sunday's parliamentary elections by six days, according to news reports from Cotonou on Saturday.
The constitutional court made the decision on Friday after the Autonomous National Electoral Commission (CENA) requested a delay of the vote.
As the CENA was facing some difficulties currently, the court decided to postpone the elections to March 31, it said, adding the CENA has failed to fulfill its responsibility due to its internal disputes since it was formed in January.
The current parliament is due to expire on April 21. At stake are all 83parliament seats to be chosen among 2,158 candidates from the western African country's 26 parties and groups.
