Zhao Leji appointed as Shaanxi's Communist Party Chief

Zhao Leji has been appointed secretary of the Shaanxi Provincial Committee of Communist Party of China (CPC) by the CPC Central Committee.

A release from the CPC Central Committee said Zhao replaced outgoing Shaanxi provincial secretary Li Jianguo, who will be appointed to a new post.

Zhao was born in Xining, capital of Qinghai Province in March 1957 and joined the CPC in July 1975. He studied in Peking University between 1977 and 1980.

Zhao had served at various business and governmental posts before he was appointed secretary of Qinghai CPC Provincial Committee in August 2003. He is currently a member of the 16th CPC Central Committee.
