Afghan ambassador to China Ahmad Eklil Hakimi has called for closer cooperation with China in the reconstruction of the war-torn country where he said the security situation is generally good.
Hakimi made the remarks in an interview with Xinhua Monday.
Hakimi highly appraised the relationship between China and Afghanistan, saying that China is a very close friend and trust worthy neighbor.
He said China has committed more than 150 million U.S. dollars to help finance the reconstruction of Afghanistan. Chinese companies are currently involved in rebuilding infrastructure in Afghanistan, such as roads, hospitals and schools.
The ambassador said Afghanistan hopes to further strengthen cooperation with China mainly in infrastructure, natural resources, agriculture, terrorism and anti-narcotics.
The reconstruction of infrastructure is a top priority of the Afghan government, said Hakimi, adding that more than 4,000 kilometers of roads have been reconstructed.
He said security in most of the places of Afghanistan is good and the country mainly has problem in the south.
