China's top adviser Jia Qinglin voiced his hope to promote parlimentary exchanges with Romania Thursday.
"We hope to strengthen relations with both Senate and Chamber of Deputies," said Jia while meeting with President of Romanian Chamber of Deputies Bogdan Olteanu.
The Chamber of Deputies and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) forged relationship in 1994.
"The two sides have maintained close contact which helps promote the relations between the two states," said Jia, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee.
On the Taiwan issue, Jia said "it is a sensitive issue related to China's sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as the feelings of 1.3 billion Chinese people,"
He said China and Romania had refreshed the friendship as they pushed forward the all-round and cooperative partnership and strengthened the cooperation in the multilateral area.
Olteanu pledged to further cooperation with China in the political, economic, and cultural fields.
Olteanu arrived here on March 25 for a week-long visit at the invitation of Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, who met with Olteanu on March 26.
