Liquefied petroleum gas dealers halt supply in Nepali capitalThe Nepali Liquefied Petroleum Gas Dealers' Association has stopped gas supply in the capital, Kathmandu Valley, from Wednesday to protest the Nepal Oil Corporation's (NOC) denial to allow import of cooking gas in proportion to the demand. The association had stopped transportation of gas cylinders to the valley from Sunday and stopped distribution of cylinders after the stock was over. It also threatened to launch fresh protest in coordination with the industrial groups and stop the supply of gas across the nation. Association members blamed the NOC for not being serious about issues directly affecting the general public. They, however, refuted allegations that they had stopped the supply to create artificial shortage in the market. The association is planning to stop the sale through the dealers all over the country and organize demonstrations in front of the NOC office with empty cylinders and also padlock the NOC, if their demands are not met. Consumers have been facing difficulties due to the shortage of cooking gas in the market. Source: Xinhua |
