Indonesia's state-run electricity company PLN will host a tender for the construction of power transmission worth 3.7 trillion rupiah (about 406 million U. S. dollars) in April, the company said Friday.
The transmission project will support the ongoing construction of six power plants with a combined capacity of 10,000 megawatts, said PLN Deputy Director Djoko Hastowo.
"The transmission project must be completed at least six months ahead of the power plant project," he said.
The tender is part of the mega transmission project to serve 10 new power plants across the country's most crowded island of Java worth 14 trillion rupiah (1.5 billion dollars).
Earlier this month, the Indonesian government signed memoranda of understanding on six coal-fired power plant projects with domestic and foreign investors, mostly from China.
