First homemade commercial jet begins final assembly
Final assembly of China's first homemade commercial jet plane ARJ21 begins in Shanghai, March 30, 2007. The turbofan regional aircraf is expected to come off the production line at the end of this year and be ready for test flights in March next year.

Qingming cross-straits flights begin
The first of 42 round-trip charter flights across the Taiwan Straits, designed for the Qingming Festival, or Tomb-Sweeping Day, arrived in Shanghai Pudong Airport at 1:30 p.m. March 30, 2007. Taiwan-based China Airlines has run the unprecedented flight for the Qingming Festival over the past 57 years.
