font size

The World Bank (WB) has approved credits of 45 million U.S. dollars to three West African countries to support the first phase of the West Africa Agricultural Productivity Program (WAAPP), a statement released in Lagos said on Friday.

Ghana, Mali and Senegal will receive 15 million dollars for their agricultural programs, the statement said.

It said that the WAAPP would generate and disseminate improved technologies in the participating countries, focusing on roots and tubers in Ghana, rice in Mali and cereals in Senegal.

"WAAPP will mainly focus on making agriculture more productive and sustainable and promote regional integration initiatives in the agricultural sector," the statement said.
