2 civilians injured in bomb attack in Thai South
font size

Two civilians were injured when insurgents detonated a bomb on a road in southern Thai province of Yala Saturday morning.

The explosion occurred on the No. 410 Road in Na Kaset Village in Yala's Thanto district, according to local newspaper the Nation 's website.

A 63-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman on a pick-up truck were injured by the blast impact.

The two were traveling along with 8 other people heading to Yala 's Muang district when the insurgents detonated the bomb.

Police said it was fortunate that the bomb exploded shortly before the pick-up truck reached it so only two passengers were injured.

Some 2,000 people have been killed since the violence reemerged in the southernmost provinces of Thailand in January 2004.
