Romanian Prime Minister Calin Popescu-Tariceanu could announce a government reshuffle on Sunday, sources from the ruling National Liberal Party (PNL) said on Saturday.
The new cabinet will be made up of ministers from the PNL and the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR), the sources said.
Any reconciliation with the Democratic Party would be ruled out and the prime minister is likely to let go all ministers of the co-ruling Democratic Party.
Several delegate ministerial posts will be canceled to streamline the incumbent cabinet. The government's General Secretariat and other structures subordinated to the prime minister will merge into one larger general structure.
Tariceanu will submit on Monday morning the complete list of the new cabinet to Senate Speaker Nicolae Vacaroiu. The vote on the new cabinet will be held on Tuesday evening or Wednesday at the latest.
Romania, which joined the EU on Jan. 1, is currently witnessing a period of political turbulence. The feud has pitted President Traian Basescu's Democratic Party against Prime Minister Calin Popescu-Tariceanu's Liberal party.
Meanwhile, the opposition Social Democrats are trying to impeach the president.
