font size

China values its all-round cooperative partnership with Peru and is ready to add new vigor to the traditional friendship between the two countries, a senior Chinese Communist Party (CPC) official said in Lima on Friday.

China will also maintain the momentum of reciprocal visits by high-ranking officials of the two countries, Li Changchun, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said during a meeting with President Alan Garcia Friday afternoon.

After the meeting, Li and Garcia attended the signing ceremony of a document on economic and technological cooperation between the two countries.

Li said China will enhance political trust, expand strategic consensus and deepen economic cooperation with Peru and appreciates Peru for its adherence to the one-China policy.

For his part, Garcia said Peru regards China's development as an opportunity for Peru, adding that Peru would like to remain a friend of China and expand bilateral cooperation on trade, economy, energy, investment, infrastructures and public health.

He reiterated Peru's adherence to the one-China policy and its support to China's drive to reunify the country.

Li is on a goodwill visit to Peru. Mauricio Mulder, general secretary of the People's Party of Peru, held a welcoming ceremony for him at the party's headquarters in Lima Friday evening.
