font size

Taliban militants attacked a police convoy and killed seven policemen in Kandahar province of southern Afghanistan, provincial police chief Asmatullah Alizai said Sunday.

The militants attacked a police convoy in Shurabak district on Saturday, killing seven and injuring four others, Alizai told Xinhua.

He said the police returned fire and inflicted casualties on the rebels, but he failed to tell the exact figure.

More than 600 people, mostly Taliban insurgents, have been killed in militancy and conflicts this year in Afghanistan.
