Nepali Constituent Assembly poll set on June 20

Nepal's major political parties Sunday reached a consensus on the date of Constituent Assembly elections, which is set on June 22.

Nepali major parties' leaders held a meeting at Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala's residence Baluwatar in Kathmandu Sunday morning.

Baluwatar source tells Xinhua the Seven-party Alliance (SPA) and the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (CPN-M) agreed to hold the elections to the constituent assembly on June 20.

Formerly in November 2006, SPA and CPN-M reached agreement to hold the elections by mid-June.

The meeting also approved the name list to be assigned to the to-be-formed Interim Government.
