Vietnam's woodwork turnovers gained a year-on-year rise of 25 percent in the first quarter of this year, reaching 584 million U.S. dollars, according to the country's Wood and Forest Products Processing Association on Monday.
Vietnam is estimated to reap woodwork export turnovers of 2.2 billion dollars this year, up 15.8 percent against last year.
Besides such key markets as the European Union, the United States, Japan and China's Taiwan, woodwork firms in Vietnam are intensifying exportation of their products, including tables, chairs, beds and wardrobes, to potential markets such as Canada, Russia and East Europe, and seeking more material suppliers.
The woodwork firms should establish material wholesale markets in the northern, central and southern regions, and join hands with one another to involve in a specific phase of the process of manufacturing a certain finished product, the association said.
Vietnam earned woodwork export turnovers of over 1.9 billion dollars in 2006, up from nearly 1.6 billion dollars in 2005, some 1.1 billion dollars in 2004, and 560 million dollars in 2003. Its wood-based products are now available in over 120 countries and regions, the association said.
