Chinese President Hu Jintao's special envoy Han Qide has arrived in Dakar at the head of a high- level delegation to attend the inauguration ceremony of Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade.
Invited by the Senegalese side, Han, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, will also attend activities celebrating the 47th anniversary of Senegal's independence.
Han was received on Monday night at Dakar International Airport by Boubacar Diobe, deputy speaker of Senegalese national assembly.
Speaking to Xinhua News Agency, Han underlined the importance of his visit to Senegal, saying that it was a concrete undertaking in the implementation of decisions which were reached during the last China-Africa summit which was held in November 2006 in Beijing, capital city of China.
"Our presence in Senegal is of great importance in the sense that I'm representing Chinese President Hu Jintao at the inauguration ceremony of President Wade and at the celebrations of the Senegalese national day. This is indeed an expression of our policy on Africa and our strategy for creating a peaceful and harmonious world, from a global point of view," Han said.
According to diplomatic sources, Han is scheduled to hold discussions with Senegalese President Wade and national assembly speaker on Tuesday.
