World Bank approves 25 million dollars for Zambia's road maintenanceThe World Bank has approved 25 million U.S. dollars to help Zambia rehabilitate and maintain roads and bridges especially those washed away by the flood which hit the country since the end of 2006, Zambia Daily Mail reported Wednesday. "First and foremost, the repair of washed away roads and bridges will help restore accessibility of affected communities to basic services," said Ben Gericke, senior highway engineer and team leader of the project. The total number of river-crossing structures to be financed is about 180. Among the roads to be rehabilitated with the same funds are those leading to Kafue, Mosi-Oa-Tunya, Lochinvar and Lower Zambezi national parks. Source: Xinhua |
