Legislators have received public suggestions about drawing up an amendment to a draft law to better manage the employment of foreigners.
The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) said on its website that by 3pm yesterday, it had received 4,713 suggestions from the public on the draft employment promotion law, including some calling for regulations to better manage foreigners in the country.
A typical proposal was from Zhang Yunchao, who said he worked at a labor and social security department in East China's Shandong Province.
In the proposal, Zhang wrote that it was necessary to have specific laws and regulations on the employment of foreigners, especially at a time when so many of them were coming to work in the country.
He said a growing number of foreign companies had been bringing foreign employees into the country, and some domestic employers were also considering hiring workers from other developing countries, like Vietnam and North Korea, to ease the labor shortage in places like South China's Guangdong Province, where many labor-intensive industries are based.
The full text of the draft law was made public on March 25, and the NPC Standing Committee said all suggestions from the public would be reviewed.
