Election observation committee formed in Nepal

Nepali human rights activists and former election commission officials have formed a committee to observe the upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) elections, local newspaper The Kathmandu Post reported Monday.

The 26-member central committee of the National Election Observation Committee (NEOC), headed by former Chief Election Commissioner Surya Prasad Shrestha, includes former National Human Rights Commission members Kapil Shrestha, Sushil Pyakurel and Gauri Shankar Lal Das, with Nepal Bar Association (NBA) Chairman Bishwa Kant Mainali and rights defender Renu Raj Bhandari as co- chairs.
