China highly appreciates its strategic association with Brazil and seeks to fully promote it, a senior Chinese diplomat said on Wednesday.
Yang Jiechi, China's visiting deputy foreign minister, said after meeting Brazilian officials that the political trust between the two countries has grown and born fruit in many areas.
China will make further efforts to develop ties based on mutual respect and shared interests, he added.
Brazilian Vice President Jose Alencar and Deputy Foreign Minister Samuel Pinheiro Guimaraes had met with Yang on bilateral relations.
Alencar said that globalization has made Brazil and China good friends and partners. Brazil is following events in China closely and appreciates China's success, he added.
Both governments should seize the current good opportunities to strengthen bilateral exchanges and cooperation, Alencar stressed.
Guimares said that the Brazil-China strategic association has a solid foundation. Both sides are committed to promoting peace and stability and have achieved great success in their political, economic, trade and technological collaboration, he told his Chinese counterpart.
The Chinese and Brazilian officials also discussed developments in bio-energy, urbanization, agriculture and education.
Yang was heading a Chinese delegation to attend the 14th Brazil-China Political Consultation conference.
