font size

The development of the relations between China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in recent years has played an important role in safeguarding regional peace and stability, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) said Thursday in Beijing.

He Yong, a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and deputy secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, made the remarks at a reception held by the DPRK embassy to celebrate the 95th birthday of the country's late leader Kim Il Sung.

To cement and promote the China-DPRK friendly relations of cooperation meets the common aspiration and ultimate interests of both parties, nations and peoples, He said.

Choe Jin Su, the DPRK Ambassador to China, said the DPRK-China friendly ties is "a treasure left behind by founding fathers of both nations" and should be "carefully cultivated".

The ambassador said that it is the standpoint of the DPRK and the Workers' Party of Korea to develop friendly ties with China for regional peace and prosperity.
