Nepali govt to discuss on EC's letter on CA polls

The Government of Nepal has decided to discuss the letter sent by the Election Commission (EC) stating that the constituent assembly (CA) polls is not possible by 20th June during the meeting of the eight political parties, according to website nepalnews.com on Friday.

The meeting of the council of ministers held this morning has decided to take the issue in the meeting of the eight political parties.

The EC has sent a letter to the government on Thursday stating that the CA polls could not be held by June 20 while the ruling eight political parties have agreed to hold the CA elections on June 20.

The next meeting of the council of ministers will endorse the letter of the EC after the meeting of the eight political parties reaches consensus on this regard.

The cabinet meeting also decided to hand over the report of the Electoral Constituency Delineation Commission (ECDC) to the EC. The ECDC has advised allocating at least one constituency per 96, 000 people.

The meeting also discussed about the law and order situation of the country and amendment in the interim constitution among others.
