Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla has revived discussion of a cabinet reshuffle, although he indicated that it would be a limited one.
The reshuffle will not affect all ministers. Not as many as is being circulated, Kalla was quoted Saturday by national newspaper The Jakarta Post as saying.
Another influential newspaper Kompas said earlier reports had circulated that Justice and Human Rights Minister Hamid Awaluddin, State Secretary Yusril Ihza Mahendra and State Minister for the Development of Disadvantaged Regions Saifullah Yusuf were among those who would be replaced.
Hamid and Yusril are currently in the spotlight for their roles in helping disburse money belonging to Soeharto's son Hutomo Mandala Putra from BNP Paribas London branch through an account belonging to the justice ministry.
Kalla, also chairman of the largest party Golkar, said Friday the proposed reshuffle was to improve the cabinet's performance instead of satisfying political needs.
