Macao chief ends visit to Singapore

Edmund Ho Hau Wah, chief executive of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China, left for Macao on Saturday afternoon after winding up a three- day visit to Singapore.

During his stay here, Ho met with Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, exchanging views on developments in Singapore and Macao, as well as broader trends in the region.

Both Ho and the premier agreed that Macao and Singapore can strengthen bilateral cooperation in public housing.

The Macao delegation also visited the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy and received a briefing by the Singapore Trade and Industry Ministry on new developments in the economic and tourism sectors.

Meanwhile, trade associations of Macao and the city state also inked a Memorandum of Understanding to boost bilateral trade and investment.

It is Ho's second visit to Singapore as Macao's chief, and Singapore is the last leg of his seven-day Southeast Asia tour, which also brought him to Thailand and Malaysia.
