font size

Four Romanian troops were seriously injured in Iraq Saturday when the armored vehicle in which they were traveling rolled over, the Defense Ministry said.

The accident took place in the southern Iraqi province of Dhi Qar, the ministry said in a statement, adding that another two soldiers in the vehicle suffered no injuries.

U.S. troops evacuated and transported the injured soldiers to a military hospital, and the cause of the incident is under investigation, the statement said.

There are 605 Romanian troops in Iraq, most of them deployed in Talil, in the south of the country.
