Car bombs hit shopping area in western Baghdad

Two car bombs went off in quick succession in a commercial street in western Baghdad on Sunday morning, killing at least five people and wounding 20 others, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua.

"The twin blasts occurred in a shopping area in al-Shurta al- Rabia neighborhood in western Baghdad, leaving at least five people killed and 20 others wounded. Several shops and cars nearby are also damaged," the source said on condition of anonymity.

The apparently coordinated car bombings detonated near a vegetable market, killing and wounding a lot of people, a butcher at the scene told Xinhua.
