font size

According to the latest statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, 1.5373 million passenger vehicles were sold in China during the first quarter, 22.6% more than during the same period of last year. Some 1.1216 million standard passenger vehicles have been sold, an increase of 30.14%; 53,300 multi purpose vehicles (MPVs) have been sold, up 14.89%; 71,600 sport utility vehicles (SUVs) have been sold, up 15.77%.

Influenced by the long Spring Festival holiday, sales dropped significantly in February. However, in March, sales picked up again with 567,000 vehicles sold, an increase of 35.76 percent from February and 16.13 percent from the same period of last year. MPVs and SUVs grew fastest in popularity, with sales of standard passenger vehicles slightly slower. The main brands of basic passenger vehicles, Chery's QQ and BYD AUTO's F3 all sold well (15,300 and 10,300), increasing their sales volume 1.23 times and 1.99 times respectively. The two models came in fifth in eighth in terms of sales volume.
