Senior Chinese Communist Party official Wang Jiarui met with the visiting Cuban foreign minister Felipe Ramon Perez Roque in Beijing on Monday.

Wang, the head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, spoke highly of the diplomatic ties between the two countries.

The upcoming visit to Cuba by Wu Guanzheng, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, would actively boost bilateral relations, he said.

Perez said that high level visits between China and Cuba had established a strong basis for both countries to cooperate in the political, economic and cultural fields.
